How do you prevent Identity Theft?

What are things you do in everyday life that prevent identity theft?
I have my name on all my cards without my middle initial, I do not sign the back. It says see photo ID. My legal signature ALWAYS has my middle initial on it. So if there is ever a dispute, I win! I ALWAYS take my mail containing checks to the post office. The red flag you pull up for the postman is (more…)

First time writing a synthesis paper, what to do?

I have been doing research for a synthesis paper and my topic is identity theft. This is my first time doing a synthesis paper and it seems hard. Credit Report for Job scam?

I applied for a job on Craigslist last week and I got an e-mail back. They told me I needed a credit report before they could set up an interview. All I gave them was an order number from the creditreport.com site. It was indeed stupid and I canceled the order and everything. Will they still be able to go get into my credit history? The lady from customer service assured (more…)

What are your tips for protecting yourself against identity theft?

This is serious. Every 3.5 seconds in the United States, someone's identity is stolen. Unfortunately, many view identity theft as an 'online' only problem. It's true that phishing scams, Trojans, and other forms of cyber-crime are a factor, but there are also far more low tech means of identity theft – including digging (more…)
