It’s Your Business: Identity theft program set

A program on identity theft and fraud is scheduled next month by the Southwest Florida Chapter of The Institute of Management Accountants.

“Identify Theft, Frauds and Scams” will be presented by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office as part of the chapter’s Trusted Business Advisors Series of continuing education. Detective Kevin Watkins is scheduled as featured presenter.

The event is Sept. 10, 2014, at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway in Fort Myers. It is designed for CFOs, controllers, CMAs, CPAs and other finance professionals.

Tickets for this event are $30 for members, $35 for nonmembers, and $20 for students and retirees. Networking starts at 5:30 p.m. with a light dinner. The program is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Hertz names new HR director

The Hertz Corp., with executive offices in Southwest Florida as it relocates to Estero, has appointed Louis R. Franzese as its chief human resources officer.

He takes over on Sept. 8, succeeding LeighAnne Baker, who left Hertz earlier this year to become chief human resources officer at Cargill, Inc.

Franzese joined Hertz in 1999 as senior staff counsel specializing in labor relations.

Between 2005 and 2012, he was the company’s senior labor lawyer and spokesman, having been promoted to vice president of labor relations and HR practices in 2005.

In 2012, Franzese was promoted to senior vice president with responsibility for the company’s human resources operation in the Americas.

Next Leadership Collier class to launch

The Leadership Collier Foundation, an affiliate of The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, will host a kick-off next month for the Leadership Collier Class of 2015.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the La Playa Beach Golf Resort, 9891 Gulf Shore Drive in Naples.

Stephanie Spell of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the class chair, along with vice chairs Steven Kissinger of the Children’s Advocacy of Collier County and Lynda Waterhouse of Collier Anesthesia will welcome this year’s Leadership Collier class.

Each year, the foundation accepts about 40 area professionals for the program.

During the year, participants learn from a broad-based network of community leaders.

The program’s primary objective is to educate local business leaders on societal and economic challenges facing our community today.

Tickets are $25 and include hors d’oeuvres. Business attire is requested.
