Identity theft, Cedar
Road
: At 3 p.m. Feb. 21, a resident reported being the victim of identity
theft. The woman said an unknown individual had filed a 2013 tax return in her
name and then opened several credit card accounts using the stolen identity.
Because the incident involves federal and state tax returns, the IRS and the
Ohio Department of Taxation will be investigating. The loss is estimated at
just under $4,000, though the victim will not be held accountable for the
fraudulent charges.

Theft, Cedar Road:
A woman shopping at Target reported that her wallet was stolen by a pickpocket
around 12:15 p.m. Feb. 17. One of the victim’s credit cards was subsequently
used at a gas station along Mayfield Road. Police are examining video footage
from both businesses.

Drug possession,
Tullamore Road
: At 11:39 a.m. Feb. 18, police responded to a report of a possible
drug deal near the intersection of Jackson Boulevard and Tullamore Road. The suspect
refused to provide identification and began maneuvering away from officers as
they approached. Several small bags of marijuana were found during a search of
the man. The 22-year-old University Heights resident was ticketed for
possession of marijuana and obstruction. The suspect had an outstanding felony
warrant in Boston Heights and was transferred to authorities from that city.

Warrant arrest,
Bromley Road
: Police in the 2400 block of Bromley stopped a vehicle for
obscured license plates just before 9:30 a.m. Feb. 20. Alert officers
discovered the driver, a 52-year-old Solon resident, had an outstanding warrant
in Chagrin Falls. The man was turned over to Chagrin Falls authorities.

Shoplifting, Cedar
Road
: CVS, 13956 Cedar Road, reported holding a shoplifter at 4:50 p.m.
Feb. 21. A Cleveland man, 54, was arrested for theft of $263 worth of health
and beauty products.

Disorderly conduct,
Silsby Road
: At 1:34 a.m. Feb. 22, police responded to a report of a man
yelling at passing cars near the intersection of Silsby and Westwood Roads. The
suspect fled on foot as officers approached. An 18-year-old resident of Whitehouse,
Ohio, was cited for disorderly conduct and underage alcohol possession.
