Hormel Employee Charged with Identity Theft

(ABC 6 News) — A Hormel Foods worker is charged with identity theft and forgery accused of taking the name of a dead person.

Austin police got an email from a Mayo Clinic Health Systems employee saying that Calzontzin Gonzalez-Alonso was using the name Franciso Nanzez Jr. for his doctors visit.

Though that name came up deceased since 2008, police found that name was still being used in Austin as of this year.

“One of our detectives was able to follow up on the information. Did identify he was working locally was able to go and talk to him. Found the gentle man to be cooperative the gentle men admitted to the deceit, said Captain Dave Mckichan of the Austin Police Department.

He admitted to using the name to gain employment at Hormel. Turns out Nanzez was actually his friend. Police checked his real I.D. and it was a Mexican license.

Gonzalez-Alonso has been charged with identity theft and forgery, both felonies. No word on whether he’s be fired from Hormel.
