A 25-year-old caregiver is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the elderly Hinsdale resident who employed her.

On April 9, Lenise K. English, of 403 E. Indian Trail, Apt. A, Aurora, was charged with financial exploitation of the elderly and aggravated identity theft.

English allegedly used the resident’s credit card to buy household goods, clothes and other items, totaling more than $10,000, between June 1 and Oct. 1.

The crime was reported to the police Dec. 21.

Following a lengthy investigation that included many interviews, service of multiple subpoenas, and coordination with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the police issued a felony arrest warrant for English, Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka said. She turned herself in at the Hinsdale Police Station April 9 and was released after posting 10 percent of a $75,000 bond.
